Motorcyclist hurt in Wyandot crash

UPPER SANDUSKY — An Upper Sandusky man was seriously injured in a crash involving a motorcycle and a tractor-trailer Wednesday morning on U.S. 23 in southern Wyandot County, the Bucyrus post of the State Highway Patrol reported.

Brian A. Bryant, 52, the motorcyclist, was taken by medical helicopter to St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima, with serious incapacitating injuries, the patrol said.

At 6:18 a.m. Wednesday, a tractor-trailer driven by Robert A. Shepard, 71, of Yutan, Nebraska, was southbound on U.S. 23 in the right lane, according to the patrol. The truck then made an illegal left turn from that lane onto County Highway 113, driving into the path of Bryant’s 2005 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, which was traveling southbound in the left lane, the patrol said.

Bryant was ejected from the motorcycle and was struck by the rear tires of the trailer, the patrol said.

Shepard was not injured in the crash, the patrol said.

The crash remains under investigation, the patrol said.

Assisting at the accident scene were the Upper Sandusky and Wyandot East Emergency Medical Service squads, the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office and Danner’s Towing.
