L-B whips Wapak, improves to 6-4

Adam Cytlak and Nathan Craft each scored 20 points to lead Liberty-Benton’s boys basketball team past Wapakoneta 58-35 in a nonconference contest Saturday.
The Eagles (6-4) had a 26-18 halftime lead, and outscored Wapakoneta 32-17 to extend their margin.
Cytlak scored 13 of his 20 points in the first half, and Craft scored 16 of his 20 points in the second half.
Liberty-Benton shot 16 of 20 from the free-throw line while Wapakoneta (1-8) was just 4 of 10.

CAREY — Jared Wentling capped a big weekend with a double-double as Carey outlasted Van Buren 58-55 in a nonconference boys basketball game Saturday night.
Wentling, who scored 37 against New Riegel Friday night, netted 29 points and grabbed 11 rebounds against the Black Knights. Bryan Powers added 18 points as Carey improved to 8-2.
Daniel Roberts led a trio of Van Buren players in double figures with 14 points. Sawyer Junge knocked in 12 points and Braxton Fasone added 11.

MCCOMB — Devin Kortokrax scored 14 points to lead Kalida to a 50-39 win over McComb in a nonconference boys basketball game on Saturday.
The game was tied at 18-18 at halftime, but Kalida (6-3) outscored McComb 17-10 in the third quarter and outrebounded the Panthers 31-17 for the game to get the road win.
Clay Grubb had 12 points to lead McComb (5-4), which shot 15-51 (29 percent) from the floor. Kalida was 18 of 41 (43 percent).

MILLER CITY — A big second quarter run was just what Miller City needed Saturday night as the Wildcats stopped Pandora-Gilboa 46-31 in a Putnam County League boys basketball game.
Miller City took full control in the second with an 18-1 edge over the Rockets (1-7, 0-3).
Jackson Lammers scored 16 points and Cory Heuerman and Adam Niese both grabbed 10 rebounds for Miller City.
Colin Fenstermaker scored 13 points, Seth Schmenk netted 12 points and Jared Tousley added 10 rebounds for Pandora-Gilboa.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale opened a 19-5 lead after the first quarter and cruised to a 65-53 victory over Galion in North Central Conference action Saturday night.
The Falcons improved to 5-5 overall and 2-3 in NCC play thanks to a 21 of 39 (54 percent) showing from the field and by winning the battle on the boards 37-27.
The Tigers shot just 19 of 62 (31 percent) for the game and hit 11 of 22 (50 percent) free throws.
Riverdale’s Lee Holderman led all scorers with 22 points, including 11 of 13 (84 percent) free throws, to go with three assists and two steals. Grant Loveridge finished 7 of 7 from the field for 14 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, Jimmy Fox added 11 points and four assists and Chad Pever tallied 10 points.
Ridge Durbin (8 rebounds) and Houston Blair scored 14 points each for Galion (3-7, 2-3).

RIDGEWAY — Chad Wright had a huge game for North Baltimore on Saturday night as he led the Tigers to a 75-36 nonconference romp over Ridgemont.
Wright finished with 18 point and 18 rebound to help the Tigers improve to 5-6. Jacob Frost tossed in 17 points, Kyler Trumbull added 13 and Lane Bishop checked in with eight points and seven assists.
Chris Weyant netted 12 points for the Golden Gophers.
