Boys Basketball: Late 3-pointer sinks Fostoria

FOSTORIA — Woodmore’s Jake Matwiejczyk nailed a 3-pointer with 40 seconds left and Fostoria missed two chances to retake the lead on the other end as the Wildcats nipped the Redmen 53-52 in a Northern Buckeye Conference boys basketball contest Tuesday.
Fostoria led 28-20 at the half, but Woodmore tied with a 17-9 advantage in the third quarter, then won it in the final minute of play.
Matwiejczyk’s game-winner, his third 3-pointer of the night, capped a 17-point night by the 6-foot senior and clinched Woodmore’s second win in NBC (2-4) and overall (2-10).
Kaleb Bemis scored 16 points and led a balanced attack by Fostoria (2-8, 0-5 NBC). Rayshon Martin added eight pouints and Hunter Abell scored nine points and grabbed 11 rebounds.

BLOOMDALE — Zach Jacoby dumped in 16 points, Jordan Faykosh added 14 and Grant Peters finished with 12 as Eastwood dumped Elmwood 68-41 in a Northern Buckeye Conference boys basketball game Tuesday night.
The Eagles (7-4, 3-2 NBC) led 35-14 at halftime and finished 26 of 52 (50 percent) from the field, including 25 of 44 (57 percent) from inside the arc.
Elmwood was just 14 of 45 (31 percent) for the contest and 3 of 15 (20 percent) from 3-point range.
Aaron Arnold had 13 points, seven rebounds and three assists and Tayte Lentz netted 11 points for the Royals (1-9, 0-5).

LIMA — Jesse Cave and Dylan Pettigrew combined for 37 points and Lima Christian Academy dominated the second and third quarters in rallying for a 54-40 win over Heritage Christian in a Buckeye Christian Schools Association matchup on Tuesday.
Cave had a huge double-double, scoring 19 points and pulling in 16 rebounds. Pettigrew scored 18 points for Lima Christian (4-2), which overcame a 15-12 first-quarter deficit by outscoring Heritage Christian 17-5 in the second quarter and 11-5 in the third.
Dillon Berry nailed six 3-pointers and led Heritage (3-3) with a game-high 23 points. Andrew VanDenBerghe added nine points, six rebounds and four assists for the Minutemen.
