Prep Wrestling: Silette, Jolliff place third for Findlay

OREGON — Findlay High School’s Ian Silette and Justin Jolliff both wrestled their way to third-place finishes to lead the Trojans at Saturday’s Maumee Bay Mike Casey Memorial Tournament at Oregon Clay.
After a quarterfinal loss Friday, Jolliff (23-3) strung together four straight wins to take third in the 126-pound class.
He pinned Wauseon’s Cameron Slattman in 2:22 to start the day and took care of rival Bailey Mezinger of Fremont Ross 11-2 in his second match.
Jolliff whipped Versailles’ Matt Mangen 10-4 in the third-place bout.
Silette improved his record to 22-4 by going 2-1 on Saturday at 182 pounds.
Silette fell to Delta’s Ryan Patchin 13-4 in the consolation semifinals. He rebounded to whip Lima Bath’s Easton Rudasill 18-3 and beat Lorain’s Adam Kuchta 3-1 in overtime in the finals.
Jimmy Staschiak (20-7) was the only other Findlay wrestler to earn a spot on the awards stand by finishing sixth at 138 pounds.
He dropped a 9-2 decision to Gavin Nelson in the semifinals, lost 5-2 to Amherst Steele’s Bryce Williams and 5-1 to Lima Bath’s Tre Wheeler.

Petersen, Cole unbeaten for PH
ARCHBOLD — Two Patrick Henry wrestlers finished with unbeaten records as the Patriots went 1-4 during Saturday’s Chuck Forward Duals at Archbold.
Brandon Cole (152) and Kent Petersen (195) both posted 5-0 records to lead the Patriots.
Patrick Henry dropped dual matches to Fairview (48-24), Edgerton (42-27), Bluestreaks (39-27) and Paulding (42-29) before beating Hicksville (48-6).
Archbold won the tournament with a 5-0 record beating runner-up Caledonia River Valley 40-30.
