Prep track: Leipsic’s Averesch wins shot at UF indoor meet

Leipsic’s Holly Averesch won a Division I title in the shot put and Riverdale’s Carroll Pauley was first in one division and second in another as area athletes competed Saturday and Sunday in the University of Findlay High School Indoor Track Invitational.
Averesch heaved the shot 39 feet, 6 inches to win the title in the Division I portion of the meet. Pauley won the weight throw in the Division II-III portion of the competition with a mark of 46-23/4. She competed in the same event in the Division I meet and was second (42-23/4).
In the Division II-III meet, Liberty-Benton’s Michaela Butler won the 60-meter dash (7.85) and the Eagles finished first in the 1,600 relay (4:40.73).
In the boys Division II-III competition, Liberty-Benton’s Ty Gleason won the mile (5:01.06) and Patrick Henry’s Zach Nye captured the 60-meter hurdles (8.49).
