The Findlay High School hockey team climbed back from a two-goal deficit with a pair of second-period tallies, but two Bowling Green goals in the third period was the difference Friday as the Trojans dropped a 4-2 Senior Night decision in a Northwest Hockey Conference match at Huntington Bank Arena.
Clay Robertson, assisted by AJ Bishop and Mason Williams and Noah Hindall, assisted by Williams, scored for the Trojans (13-12-4, 1-4-2 NHC). Those goals evened things up after the Bobcats had opened up the scoring with two goals in the first period.
Bowling Green’s Jeremy Chambers scored the game-winning goal with just less than six minutes left in the game. The Bobcats added an empty-net goal late in the game.
Bowling Green (4-3 NHC) outshot Findlay 31-19. Trojans goalie Joe Longo faced 30 shots and made 27 saves; Bowling Green’s Tanner Fausnaugh stopped 17 shots.
Findlay committed 10 penalties in the game; Bowling Green had four.
The Trojans have one NHC game remaining, a makeup date at home Feb. 15 against Toledo St. John’s. Before then, though, Findlay will begin district play at 6 p.m. Feb. 14 against Fremont Ross at Tam-O-Shanter Arena in Sylvania.
