BVC Boys Basketball: Arlington finishes perfect in BVC

ARLINGTON — Matt Glick led 10 Arlington scorers and five in double figures with 11 points Friday night as Arlington clinched the outright Blanchard Valley Conference title with a 75-26 demolition of Hardin Northern.
The Red Devils, who improved to 15-2 overall and 9-0 in BVC play, led 21-7 after the first quarter and extended that to 39-9 at halftime. They were 56 percent (32 of 57) from the field, while the Polar Bears made just 20 percent (7 of 35) of their attempts.
Ryan McDowell, Andrew Hunter, Aaron Starr and Michael Blunk each added 10 points for Arlington.
Hardin Northern (1-19, 0-9) mustered only seven field goals and was led by Jacob Gossard’s eight points.

Ryan Geise made seven 3-pointers and Liberty-Benton exploded for 51 first-half points in an 83-30 win over Leipsic on Friday in the final Blanchard Valley Conference game of the season for both teams.
Geise led 11 Liberty-Benton players with 25 points as the Eagles (15-4, 8-1 BVC) secured a runner-up finish behind Arlington in the conference standings.
Arlington (15-2, 9-0) locked down the BVC title Friday with a 75-26 win at Hardin-Northern. The Red Devils beat Liberty-Benton 46-39 back on Dec. 20 in the only meeting of the season between the league’s top two teams.
On Friday, the Eagles made 60 percent (33 of 55) of their shots, including 11 of 21 (52 percent) from behind the 3-point line.
Zach Garver finished with 10 points and Brandon May had four rebounds for Liberty-Benton.
Gavin Cupp and Oscar Lopez scored eight points each for Leipsic (9-10, 5-4) which never scored more than eight points in a quarter.

Drew Siferd (13 points), Trey Hanes (10) and Taylor Reardon (10) each scored in double figures for McComb (12-8, 7-2 BVC). Despite shooting 26 of 66 (39 percent) from the floor, the Panthers were 9 of 19 (47 percent) from three-point range.
Shae Watkins poured in a game-high 17 points for Arcadia (5-14, 2-7 BVC).

PANDORA — Sawyer Junge drained six 3-pointers and scored a game-high 25 points to lead Van Buren over Pandora-Gilboa 68-54 in Blanchard Valley Conference boys basketball action Friday.
Van Buren (12-7, 6-3 BVC) had a big advantage at the free-throw line, shooting 16 of 22 (73 percent) opposed to Pandora-Gilboa’s 3 of 6 (50 percent). Daniel Roberts added 18 points, including two treys and 6 of 6 shooting from the foul line, for the Black Knights.
Alex Osborn’s 20 points led Pandora-Gilboa (3-16, 3-6 BVC).
