Ottawa-Glandorf advanced as a team and Patrick Henry’s Aaron Tietje as an individual to next weekend’s district tournament as boys Division II bowling sectionals were held Friday in Minster, Napoleon and Port Clinton.
The top four teams and top four individuals not on a qualifying team from each sectional advanced to next Saturday’s district tournament at Westgate Lanes in Lima.
In the sectional at Community Lanes in Minster, Ottawa-Glandorf was third with a pinfall of 3,681. Coldwater (3,972), St. Henry (3,924) and St. Marys Memorial (3,606) also advanced as teams.
Brendon Gerdeman paced the Titans by placing sixth individually with a three-game total of 181-179-204–564. Consistency was key for Ottawa-Glandorf as Joe Roof (541) was 13th, Logan Haughn (537) 15th, Shane Schroeder (531) 16th and Michael Sunderhaus (517) 20th as individuals.
At River City Bowl-A-Way in Napoleon, Patrick Henry finished in fifth place as a team with a pinfall of 3,656. The Patriots were just two pins from fourth-place Wauseon (3,658); Rossford (3,945), Napoleon (3,818) and Liberty-Center (3,786) also advanced.
Tietje fired a 191-200-254–645 to place third individually and move on to the district. Andrew Diem (557) was 11th and Marcus Myers (545) 13th for Patrick Henry. Fostoria was 11th as a team with a pinfall of 2,895; Trey Yates (486) placed 27th to lead the Redmen.
At Star Lanes in Port Clinton, New Riegel was 11th as a team at 3,123. Huron (4,042), Port Clinton (4.034), Clyde (3,902) and Willard (3,734) advanced as teams. Jared Coleman (498) led the Blue Jackets with a 22nd-place finish.
