GENEVA — Jessica Ward posted a second-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke to highlight the final day for the University of Findlay at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference swimming and diving championships.
Ward’s time of 2:02.48 also met the NCAA Division II “B” standard.
Kaley Holmstrom took sixth place in the 200-yard breaststroke in a “B” standard time of 2:20.86. The relay team of Alisa Hershaw, Molly Cade, Annie Currin and Ward took fifth-place in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:34.13.
In the men’s meet, the team of Cody Craig, Todo Djurovic, Clay Fogle and Nick Kaftan took sixth place in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:09.12.
Wayne State swept both the men and women’s team titles. Findlay was fifth in the women’s meet and placed seventh in the men’s standings.

Roughnecks rout OVU
TIFFIN — The University of Findlay wrestling team recorded a pair of pins on its way to a 42-6 win over Ohio Valley University on Saturday at Tiffin University.
Ben Sergent and Adam Walters each picked up victories by pin fall while Gerald Beck scored a technical fall.
Bradley Metz also scored a major decision win for Findlay.
The Roughnecks will be off until Feb. 28 when they compete in the NCAA Regional Tournament at Tiffin.

UF teams honored
The University of Findlay men and women’s cross country teams achieved all-academic honors from the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
The women’s team achieved a grade point average of 3.48 while the men checked in at 3.01.
Individually, Melanie Ruich and Alexa Stults each earned individual honors as scholar athletes.
Ruich has a 3.87 GPA in health sciences/pre-occupational therapy while Stults has a GPA of 3.26 in business management and human resource management.
Programs must have compiled a cumulative GPA or 3.00 or greater and scored at an NCAA Division II regional meet to qualify for the award.
