State swimming: Findlay gets four all-Ohio finishes

CANTON — Findlay High School’s swimming and diving teams picked up all-Ohio honors in four events on Saturday on the final day of the OHSAA swimming and diving state championships at C.T. Branin Natatorium in Canton.
Bethany Glick got the Trojans off to a solid start by finishing ninth for the Trojans in the Division I girls diving competition.
Glick, who will compete for Youngstown State upon graduation, earned her fourth all-Ohio award in her Findlay High School career. She matched last year’s ninth-place effort with a score of 443.25.
She was ninth after the preliminary dives with a score of 201.25 and 12th after the semifinals at 314.2. She had a solid showing in the finals to leapfrog three other competitors as Powell Olentangy Liberty’s Olivia Ball won the event with 553.85 points.
Her performance helped Findlay place 39th in the 52-team girls standings with nine points. Cincinnati Ursuline was the team champion with 281 points.
Sophomore Justin Hopkins posted the best time in the pool for Findlay’s boys team, placing 11th in the 500 freestyle in a time of 4:40.96. Cincinnati Anderson sophomore Hassler Carroll won the race in 4:30.23.
The Trojans also had a pair of all-state relays.
