College Basketball: Bluffton’s Recker earns all-HCAC honor

Arlington graduate Thayne Recker was a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference honorable mention selection as the HCAC released their men’s basketball all-conference teams.
Recker started the final 13 games of the season for the Beavers.
Recker was second in the conference by hitting 63.3 percent from the field (126 of 199). He was also second in the HCAC with 6.8 rebounds per game.
Teammate Will Pope was a second-team all-HCAC honoree for the Beavers.
Tietje first team
Defiance College’s Kelsey Tietje had a terrific freshman year and was named to the all-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference women’s basketball first team on Wednesday.
Tietje, a freshman from Patrick Henry, started 22 games for the Yellow Jackets and averged a double-double scoring 16.1 points with 10.2 rebounds per game,
Bluffton University sophomore forward Brooke Ruffer also made the first team.
Bluffton center Rachel Beining (Ottoville) joined Tietje on the conference’s all-freshman team. Beining scored 9.8 points and grabbed 8.1 rebounds per game for the Beavers this season.
