College Softball: UF sweeps Gannon, West Virginia Wesleyan

CLERMONT, Fla — The University of Findlay softball team scored a pair of victories Saturday knocking off Gannon 4-3 and beating West Virginia Wesleyan 5-3 in a pair of nonconference games.
In the win against Gannon, Tawna Whited picked up the victory on the mound by striking out seven hitters in seven innings.
Whited and Megan Turner both singled in a run to lead the Oilers at the plate.
Mohawk grad Jackie Messersmith pitched UF to a win in the second game as she started the first four innings. Nicole Motuza worked the final three innings.
Courtney Dwyer and Emily Stewart (North Baltimore) both smacked two singles. Tori Allen had an RBI double.
The Oilers return to the field tomorrow on the final day of their spring trip when they face Urbana and Winona State in a two-game set.
Findlay (5-2) wraps up its Florida trip today with games against Urbana and Winona State.
