College basketball: ONU players earn all-region honors

ADA — Ohio Northern University junior Jordan Kimes was tabbed third team women’s All-Great Lakes Region and senior Branden Rushton garnered third team men’s all-region honors by in selections released Monday.
Kimes also garnered first team All-Ohio Athletic Conference honors after leading the Polar Bears in scoring (15.5 ppg), rebounding (9.0 rpg), field goal percentage (59.3), 3-point percentage (54.3) and blocks (56).
ONU finished the season with a 23-6 record and made its second straight appearance in the NCAA Division III tournament.
Kimes currently holds the best career shooting percentage in school history at 55.0 percent and ranks second in career blocks with 95.
It is the first all-region honor for Rushton, who also earned first team All-OAC recognition this season after leading the Polar Bears to a 16-10 record overall and a 12-6 mark in the OAC.
Rushton, a four-time All-OAC selection, led the team and finished fifth in the conference in scoring with 16.0 points per game.
He ended his career sixth on ONU’s all-time scoring list with 1,497 points.
