College Basketball: UF’s Kahlig earns all-region honors

University of Findlay senior forward Greg Kahlig was named first team all-Midwest Region for the 2013-14 season as the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) released its all-region teams Wednesday.
The 2014 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year led the Midwest Region in scoring at 24.5 points per game and also chipped in 4.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per contest. Kahlig, who was also named the GLIAC Tournament MVP after leading the Oilers to their third straight tourney title, shot 50.2 percent (235-of-468) from the floor, 42.3 percent (90-of-213) from 3-point range and 81.5 percent (176-of-216) from the foul line.
Kahlig had three games of over 40 points during his senior season, which included a GLIAC record 55-point outing in the Oilers 104-74 win over Walsh in the semifinals of the GLIAC Tournament. He also hit a school record and GLIAC tournament record ten 3-pointers in the game.
His 736 points this season is the third most any Oilers player has scored and his 90 3-pointers ranks second all-time at UF.
Kahlig ends his career with 1,877 points, the fourth-highest total in school history.
