ONU Roundup: Breitigam opens at NCAA swim meet

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Ohio Northern senior Jordan Breitigam finished 57th in a field of 63 swimmers in the men’s 200 individual medley on the opening day of the NCAA Division III men’s swimming and diving championships at the Indiana Purdue-Indianapolis Natatorium on Wednesday.
Breitigam posted a time of 1:55.33 in the event. He will swim in his stronger events today and Friday when he competes in the 100 and 200 butterfly, respectively.
Breitigam is ranked No. 10 nationally in the 200 fly (1:49.51) and No. 17 in the 100 fly (49.28).
He is a two-time honorable mention All-American in the 200 fly, finishing ninth last year in 1:47.46 and finishing 13th at the 2012 NCAA III Championships.
The top eight in each event earn all-American status, with those finishing 9-16 named honorable mention all-American.
ONU names coaches
ADA — Ohio Northern University’s football program has added three new coaches to its staff and has made several position changes for the fall of 2014.
Former Ohio Northern assistant coach Glenn Scheutzow returns to serve as co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach, E.J. Henderson comes to Ohio Northern from Urbana to coach the wide receivers and be the co-offensive coordinator and Pat Lambert comes from Cincinnati to serve as strength and conditioning coach.
Current assistant coach Mike Schmitz will move to the role of offensive coordinator and will coach the quarterbacks, Bob Rohan will now coach the defensive line and Brad Watkins will coach the running backs.
The Polar Bears will open the 2014 season on Sept. 6 at Washington (Mo.).
