VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Fostoria’s Luke Leonard and Findlay’s Justin Jolliff both won matches over the weekend at the National High School Coaches Association’s national wrestling championships.
Both wrestlers competed in the 87-man junior class 126-pound division.
Leonard, a Division II state qualifier this season for the Redmen, posted a 2-2 mark.
Leonard beat New Jersey’s Tommy Flanagan 9-6 and North Carolina’s Alphonso Martin 7-6 in his first two matches before being pinned by New Hampshire’s Jean-Luc Lemieux in 2:58 in his third match.
He was eliminated with a 4-2 loss to California’s Kyle Torres.
Jolliff, a Division I state qualifier for the Trojans, beat Maryland’s Naron Gilmor 13-3 in his opener before losing by technical fall to Washington’s Darren Harris.
He had a consolation round bye and dropped a 5-2 decision to Virginia’s Fabian Rodriguez in his final bout.
