Prep track: Carey girls win triple jump at Seneca East Relays

 

ATTICA — Carey’s team won the triple jump relay to highlight the day for area track and field athletes at Saturday’s Seneca East Tiger Relays.
Oak Harbor outscored Bellevue for the girls title 114-88½. Carey (42) was sixth, Arcadia (13) finished 10th and New Riegel (0) was last in the 12-team field.
Freshman Morgan Blair was second individually in the triple jump (28-0) as she and teammates Leah Kuhlman and Joanna Worst teamed to win the relay with a combined distance of 77-9.
The Blue Devils’ Worst, Sara Craig, Amber Spurlock and Gwen Wentling also combined to finish second in the 1,200-meter relay (3:25.1).
Colonel Crawford edged Seneca East 97-93 for the boys crown. Carey (27½) was eighth, Arcadia (17½) placed 10th and New Riegel (2) was 12th.
Arcadia had the area’s top finish in the boys meet as Shae Watkins, AJ Knepper and Jake Thompson finished third in the discus relay (299-3). Watkins had the top throw among the individual competitors with a toss of 128-2.
