University of Findlay pitchers Nicole Motuza and Bonnie Zappitellui both notched their first win of the season as the Oilers swept Lourdes College 9-0 and 12-4 in nonleague softball games at Anderson Field.
Motuza (1-3) pitched a four-hit shutout and Megan Turner drove in four runs with a double and two singles in Tuesday’s five-inning opener.
Zappitelli (1-1) also went four innings in the second game and received excellent offensive support in UF’s 12-4 victory.
Mohawk graduate Jackie Messersmith ripped two triples and Abby Funk was 4-for-4 with a double and three singles and drove in four runs. Morgan Arnold belted her second home run of the season, singled and drove in three runs, and Tori Allen and Anna Britvec had two hits each.

BAY CITY, Mich. — University of Findlay sophomore Sarah Lankton, who scored 12 goals, had three assists and caused nine turnovers in helping the Oilers with two of three games, has been named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week.
Lankton leads the GLIAC in draw controls (62) and caused turnovers (23) and is second in the league in goals (41) and points (53).
