Prep baseball: Findlay High gets first win

LIMA — Findlay scored nine runs in the first two innings and rode the strong pitching of senior right-hander Jackson Geyer to a 13-0 win over Lima Senior on Wednesday in the Three Rivers Athletic Conference opener for both teams.
Findlay didn’t tear the cover off the ball in the first inning. But four walks, a hit batsman, a couple of throwing errors and Wes Breitigam’s RBI single staked the Trojans to a quick 5-0 lead.
Grant Akin had two hits, Breitigam and Sam McGhee had RBI singles and Michael Roche drove in two runs as Findlay (1-2, 1-0) earned its first win of the season.
Geyer went four innings, allowing just two hits, no runs and striking out three. Findlay also backed Geyer with errorelss defense.
Lima Senior fell to 1-3 with the loss.

CAREY — Satchel Strahm and Jonathan Racheter rapped four hits each and winning pitcher Matt Holsinger helped his own cause with two doubles and three RBI as Carey run-ruled Fostoria St. Wendelin 15-5 on Wednesday in Midland Athletic League baseball action.
The teams were tied 5-5 after three innings, but Carey (3-2, 1-0 MAL) capped its MAL opener with seven runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Strahm (2 RBI) and Racheter (3 RBI) had a double and three singles each, while Brandon Zechman (3B, 2B) and Noah McCartney (2B, 1B) both had two.
Holsinger allowed four hits and struck out seven in five innings work.
Zac Dixon led St. Wendelin with a three-run first-inning double.

NEW RIEGEL — Garret Sendelbach pitched seven scoreless innings, allowed just two hits and struck out nine in leading Hopewell-Loudon over New Riegel 3-0 in a Midland Athletic League baseball game Wednesday.
Hopewell-Loudon (4-1, 1-0 MAL) scored a run in the second, fifth and seventh innings on four total hits.
Michael Kirian allowed two earned runs on two hits in five innings for New Riegel (1-4, 0-1 MAL), which had four errors.

SHELBY — Upper Sandusky scored four runs in the top of the sixth and survived a four-run rally by Shelby in the bottom of the seventh to knock off the Whippets 7-6 in a nonconference baseball game on Wednesday.
Cameron Binau homered and leadoff hitter Ross Dible banged out a pair of singles driving in four runs to help the Rams improve to 3-2.

BUCYRUS — Riverdale picked up its first baseball win of the season with the help of three runs in both the sixth and seventh innings in a 7-2 North Central Conference victory at Bucyrus on Wednesday.
Grant Loveridge allowed two runs (one earned) in seven innings pitched to get the win for Riverdale (1-3, 1-0 NCC). He gave up six hits, struck out five and walked four.
Paul Frey had half of the Falcons’ hits, two singles, and Seth Knoll had a single and three RBIs.
Bucyrus (2-3, 0-1 NCC) walked 14 Riverdale batters.

NORTH BALTIMORE — Jacob Firsdon drove in three with a double in a seven-run fourth inning Wednesday as unbeaten Elmwood topped North Baltimore 10-8 in a nonleague baseball game.
Dylan Hall hit two singles and drove in a pair of runs for Elmwood, while Jake Wise tallied three singles and a double, Nolan Kerr notched two doubles and a single and Nick Gillett doubled and singled.
Brandon Pennington (1-0) pitched 3-plus relief innings to gain the win, allowing two runs on four hits while striking out four and walking four.
Levi Newcomer homered, doubled and singled for the Tigers.

OTTOVILLE — A five-run first inning gave Ottoville a lead they never relinquished as the Big Green scored a 10-8 nonconference baseball win over Miller City on Wednesday.
Alex Horstman doubled and singled driving in three runs and Kyle Bendele added a double, single and four RBIs to lead the way for Ottoville (1-3).
Jared Fuka had a pair of singles and Jacob Schimmoeller doubled and drove in four runs for Miller City (2-2).

The Redmen (3-2) led 4-3 after three innings but failed to score in the final four.
Clark Mayberry tallied a pair of singles at the plate as the Bobcats totaled seven hits and drew nine walks.
Hunter Abell doubled and singled, while Alex Souders had two singles as the Redmen finished with seven hits.

BLUFFTON — Eric Heffner had a three singles and Luke Nieble added a pair of singles and an RBI to lift Lima Bath to a 3-2 nonconference baseball win over Bluffton on Wednesday.
Chris McClain and Drake Luginbuhl both led the Pirates with a double, single and an RBI. Teammate Austin Bricker added a double.
