Prep baseball: Findlay High falls to Defiance

Defiance drilled seven extra-base hits and used a five-run second inning to knock off Findlay 11-2 in a nonconference baseball game Thursday.
Dom Gentile ripped a triple, single and drove in three runs to lead Defiance (3-1), the defending Division II state champs. Austin Hancock added a pair of doubles and two RBIs, and Shay Smiddy allowed an unearned run on four hits in five innings to pick up the win on the mound for the Bulldogs.
Nolan Rodman hit two singles to lead Findlay (1-3), and Desmond Lino allowed eight runs (seven earned) on seven hits, walked four and struck out two in 31/3 innings pitched.

MCCOMB — Blake Glaser hit a double, two singles and drove in four runs to lead McComb’s baseball team over Vanlue 10-1 in a Blanchard Valley Conference matchup Thursday.
McComb (3-1, 2-0 BVC) scored at least one run in every inning except the second. Taylor Reardon (1-1) picked up the win on the mound and had two singles and a double at the plate.
Sam Wagner had two singles to lead Vanlue (1-2, 0-2 BVC).

Jackson Sebetto tripled and drove in three runs, Kyle Reinbolt added a single and four RBIs, Ryan Steinmetz singled twice and had two RBIs and Jordan Stewart, Ryan Depinet and Tyler Imes each contributed a single and two RBIs for the Chieftains (5-1, 2-0 MAL).
Donovan Scudder singled three times and drove in a run to lead the Mohawks (0-6, 0-2).

Chris McClain picked up the win on the mound for the Pirates (4-3, 1-0 NWC). Austin Bricker had a single, double and two RBIs, Drake Luginbuhl singled twice and drove in a pair of runs and Brett Rumer added two singles.
Jon Shimp, who took the loss on the mound, singled and drove in the only run for the Bearcats (3-3, 0-1).

CRESTLINE — Upper Sandusky’s Carson Mittermaier had a big day at the plate, blasting a home run, double, single and driving in three runs as the Rams scored four runs in the sixth inning to come away with an 8-7 win over Crestline in North Central Conference baseball action.
Alex Kenner had three hits, including a triple, and drove in two runs for Upper Sandusky (4-2, 1-0 NCC), which had 15 hits and six errors. Cameron Binau picked up the win, pitching the last three innings and allowing an unearned run on four hits.

Mathias struck out six, allowed one earned run, and had two singles with two RBIs at the plate. Michael Kirian had four hits and six RBIs for the Blue Jackets (2-4).
Paul Frey and Grant Loveridge each singled and drove in a run for the Falcons (1-4).
