Prep softball: Kliesch fires 1-hitter in Vanlue victory

VANLUE — Olivia Kliesch fired a one-hitter and hit a two-run home run as the Wildcats pounded McComb 15-0 in five innings in a Blanchard Valley Conference game on Thursday.

Haley Bonham singled twice, doubled and drove in two runs, Chelsi Hartman added two singles and three RBIs and Chelsi Summit recorded two singles and two RBIs for Vanlue (2-1, 1-1 BVC).

Mariah Ward’s single was the lone hit for the Panthers (1-4, 0-2).

VAN BUREN — Meghan Reiter allowed one earned run on six hits, while striking out eight and walking one in seven innings as Fostoria St. Wendelin downed Van Buren 5-1 in a nonconference matchup on Thursday.

Mikayla Gilliland had a pair of singles and a triple, Krystal Krout added a single and two RBIs and Edy Mowrey recorded two singles and an RBI for the Mohawks (1-3).

Nichole Miller, who suffered the loss in the circle, singled twice and added a double, while Erin Neall hit a double and drove in the lone run for the Black Knights (4-2).

SPENCERVILLE — Cheyenne Treen’s two-out double brought home two runs in the top of the sixth inning broke a 4-4 tie and propelled Bluffton to a 6-4 Northwest Conference win against Spencerville.

Sami Fruchey (3-0) worked seven innings and struck out six while not allowing a walk to pick up the victory.

Taylor Monday singled twice and drove in a run, Olivia Hunt singled and doubled and Maddie Willis added three singles for the Pirates (4-0, 1-0 NWC).

Haleigh Mull’s two singles and a double led the way for the Bearcats (2-3, 0-1).

ADA — Sierra Sizemore doubled three times and drove in five runs, and Erin Conkle doubled and homered Thursday as Allen East defeated Ada 9-5 in a Northwest Conference softball game.

Mackenzie Willis had four hits, including a double, for Ada (4-1, 0-1 NWC). Alexis Gonzaga had two singles and an RBI.

Ariana Schmiedebusch had a single and double for Allen East (5-1, 1-0 NWC).

MOUNT BLANCHARD — New Riegel scored six runs in the third and fifth innings en route to a 17-3 win over Riverdale in in nonleague softball action.

Taylor Kirian continued her dominance on the mound, picking up her sixth win in as many games for the Blue Jackets (6-0). She allowed three unearned runs on two hits, struck out four and walked two. Kirian, along with Kara Scherger, hit a home run and drove in three runs.

Hailey Theis had a triple, three singles and scored three times as well for the Blue Jackets. Julia Naus had a triple and single for Riverdale (2-4), which had eight errors.

METAMORA — Evergreen’s softball team scored a run in the bottom of the eighth inning to hand Patrick Henry its first loss of the season, 6-5, in a Northwest Ohio Athletic League game Thursday.

The Vikings (4-1, 1-0 NWOAL) scored three runs in the sixth inning to take a 5-1 lead, but Patrick Henry (3-1, 0-1 NWOAL) came right back with four in the seventh to tie the game at five apiece.

Rachel Nye hit two doubles and a single to lead the Patriots.

PEMBERVILLE — Eastwood’s Krista Jennings had three hits, including a home run, and drove in two runs as the Eagles scored seven runs in the sixth inning to run rule North Baltimore 17-7 in nonconference softball action Thursday.

Riley Patterson allowed seven runs (five earned) and struck out five in six innings to pick up the win for Eastwood (3-0).

Bailey Boyer hit two doubles, a single and drove in two runs to lead North Baltimore (1-3).

DELTA — Delta banged out 14 hits and plated 10 runs in the fifth inning Thursday en route to a 12-1 win over Fostoria in a nonconference softball game.

Erica Moore, Alexus Smith, Breanna Biles and Kaitlyn Gonyer had hits for the Redmen (1-4).

Delta improved to 2-1.

CRESTLINE — Upper Sandusky scored two runs in the top of the tenth inning to knock off Crestline 10-8 in a North Central Conference softball opener for both teams.

The Rams (4-2, 1-0 NCC) scored five runs in the fourth to tie the game at six. Crestline (0-3, 0-1 NCC) added two runs in the home half of the sixth, but Upper Sandusky came right back with two in the seventh to force extra innings.

Maranda Stansbery hit a triple and single, Jaya Smalley ripped two doubles and Kelsi Knapp had three singles to lead Upper Sandusky, which had 17 hits and seven errors.
