Prep baseball: Titans, Patriots split nonleague doubleheader

HAMLER — Ottawa-Glandorf’s Drew Schierloh pitched a complete game, allowing three earned runs on four hits, and the Titans took the first game of a doubleheader with Patrick Henry 8-3 in nonconference baseball action on Saturday.
The Titans (4-3), however, had eight errors in the second game, and Patrick Henry’s Kollin Spence drilled two doubles and had two RBIs to give the Patriots (5-2) the win.

BLOOMDALE — Archbold built an early 5-0 lead after two innings and held off Elmwood for a 6-2 nonleague win on Saturday.
Micah Bernath worked 41/3 innings, allowing no runs on two hits to pick up his first victory of the season.
Evan Wyse singled three times and drove in a run, Matt Sevey singled, doubled and had an RBI and Tyson Schnitkey added a double and two RBIs for the Blue Streaks (5-2).
Trevor Solether suffered the loss on the mound, giving up six runs on nine hits in six innings.
Tayte Lentz singled and doubled to lead the Royals (4-2).

FOSTORIA — Donovan Scudder had four hits, including a double, as Fostoria St. Wendelin swept a doubleheader with Ada in nonleague baseball action on Saturday.
Fostoria St. Wendelin (2-7) scored four runs in the home half of the fourth inning to take a 6-5 lead that it never relinquished in the first game, and with the help of seven runs in the first three innings of game two, the Mohawks picked up their first wins of the season.
Brayden Sautter had three hits, including a triple, and two RBIs for Ada (1-4) in the first game, and Cory Kellum doubled, singled and drove in two runs for the Bulldogs in the second game.

FOSTORIA — Hunter Abell blasted a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to give Fostoria an 11-10 lead in the first game as the Redmen swept a doubleheader with Norwalk on Saturday.
Chris Hampton and Dugan Smith each picked up wins for Fostoria (5-3). Abell added three singles in Fostoria’s 14-10 win in the second game, while Lance Smith and Elliot Hossler each had a pair of singles.

Zach Souter singled twice and drove in a run, Nick Mix added a single and two RBIs and Andrew Dowell hit a pair of singles for the Tigers (5-2).
Ryan Depinet recorded two singles and an RBI for the Chieftains (5-3).

The Comets won the opener 13-2 and blanked Mohawk in the nightcap 6-0.
Austin Harper doubled and singled in the first game to lead Mohawk.

CONTINENTAL — Delta plated eight runs in the first two innings en route to an 11-0 nonconference victory against Continental in five innings on Saturday.
The Panthers (2-3) banged out nine hits and did not commit an error in the game, while the Pirates (0-4) managed only two hits.
Jeff McQuillin doubled, singled and drove in three runs, Wyatt Bronson added a double, a single and two RBIs and Tyler Farfar belted a two-run home run for Delta.
Delta defeated Antwerp 17-2 in its other game in the triangular.

GIBSONBURG — Carey tied the game 5-5 in the top of the fourth inning Saturday but it was all Gibsonburg after that as the Golden Bears defeated the Blue Devils 15-5 in a nonleague baseball game.
Matt Holsinger, Dylan Musgrave and Cody Ferguson each had two basehits for Carey (3-3).
Andrew Cantrell doubled twice and drove in a pair of runs for Gibsonburg (9-0).
