Prep Baseball: Sunderman gets 100th win at PH

HAMLER — Patrick Henry broke a 4-4 tie with four runs in the fifth inning and added two more in the sixth to top Montpelier 10-6 on Thursday in Northwest Ohio Athletic League action at Garrold Parratt Field.
The win was Patrick Henry coach Shawn Sunderman’s 100th at the school.
Josh Petersen hit a pair of doubles and drove in a run, Jake Montana added two singles and an RBI, Neil Storch and Derek Hoops each singled and had an RBI and Brad Breece tallied a single and drove home two runs for the Patriots (7-2, 3-0 NWOAL).
Hunter McKelvey finished with two singles, a double and two RBIs to pace Montpelier (2-7, 1-3).

PANDORA — Jared Neiling allowed two earned runs on eight hits, while striking out nine and not issuing a walk in seven innings to pick up the victory in Liberty-Benton’s 6-3 Blanchard Valley Conference win against Pandora-Gilboa on Thursday.
The Eagles, who improved to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in the BVC, got two singles from Parker Lease, while Neiling and Josh Ostrander each added a double and Wyatt Young notched three RBIs.
Jacob Basinger singled twice and drove in a pair of runs, Reed Hovest hit two singles and had one RBI and Brian Schneck singled and doubled for the Rockets (4-3, 1-2).

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Sam Plott pitched a complete game, allowing two unearned runs on two hits, and Carson Mittermaier crushed two home runs and drove in five runs as Upper Sandusky took care of Riverdale 15-2 in five innings in a North Central Conference baseball game Thursday.
Alex Kenner also hit a home run, as well as two singles, for Upper Sandusky (6-3, 3-0 NCC). Cody Gabriel tripled, singled and drove in four runs as the Rams collected 16 hits, half of them for extra bases.
Tristan Davis and Tyler Miller each had a single for Riverdale (1-7, 1-3 NCC).

ADA — Bluffton plated 11 runs in the first inning and took advantage of seven Ada errors en route to a 21-0 five-inning thrashing of the Bulldogs in a Northwest Conference matchup on Thursday.
Chris McClain, who earned the victory on the mound, was 4 for 5 at the plate with a home run and five RBIs as the Pirates upped their record to 6-4 overall and 2-0 in the NWC.
Trent Phillips and Austin Bricker each contributed four singles as well for Bluffton.
Connor English recorded one of two hits for Ada (1-6, 0-2).

DELPHOS — Ottoville started slow but finished with six runs in the seventh inning to finish off Delphos St. John’s 10-0 in nonleague play on Thursday.
Luke Schimmoeller allowed seven hits in seven innings, while striking out eight and not surrendering a walk to earn the win on the mound.
Alex Horstman and Joel Beining each singled twice and drove in a run, Brandon Boecker added a singled and two RBIs and Kyle Bendele singled and recorded an RBI for the Big Green (2-5).
Kyle Pohlman tallied two singles to lead the Blue Jays.

NORTH BALTIMORE — Van Buren scored 12 runs in the last three innings, including 8 in the third as the Black Knights beat North Baltimore 13-3 on Thursday in five innings.
Ross Adolph allowed one run on three hits in four innings of work for Van Buren (6-1). He also drove in two runs at the plate.
Schuler Turner and Payten Whitticar matched Adloph with 2 RBI.
Jacob Frost took the loss for North Baltimore (1-7), allowed 11 runs while working into the fourth inning.

CAREY — Arlington’s Jordan Freed pitched a complete game, allowing one run on four hits and striking out 10 Carey batters as the Red Devils cruised to a 7-1 win over the Blue Devils in nonconference baseball action on Thursday.
John Solt ripped three singles and drove in a run for the Red Devils (6-3). Logan Speyer doubled twice and had an RBI and Nick Affholder hit three singles.
Dylan Musgrave doubled and singled to lead Carey (3-5), which didn’t score its run until the bottom of the seventh inning.

Dakota LaRue singled and had an RBI and Mitch Schroeder added a pair of singles for the Panthers (7-1).
Braden Park and Ryan Depinet each recorded two singles and an RBI for Hopewell-Loudon (5-4).

LEIPSIC — Miller City’s Hunter Berner drilled four hits, including a 2-run double in the fourth inning, as the Wildcats edged Leipsic 6-5 in a Putnam County League baseball game on Thursday.
The Wildcats (6-2, 3-0 PCL) trailed 3-2, but scored four runs in the top half of the fourth inning to take a 6-3 lead. Leipsic’s Ross Schroeder hit a 2-run double in the sixth inning to cut the Vikings’ deficit to 6-5, but that was as close as they would get.
Gavin Cupp had three hits, including an RBI-single in both the first and third inning, for Leipsic (3-6, 1-2 PCL).

FOSTORIA — Fostoria scored seven runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to erase a 7-4 deficit and downed Arcadia 11-9 in a nonconference matchup on Thursday.
Dugan Smith improved to 4-0 on the mound for the Redmen (7-3). Elliot Hossler singled and doubled, Rob Crotty singled twice, while Noah Hammer and Alex Jackson each added a double.
Sawyer Kieffer and A.J. Lentz recorded a single and a double a piece and Hayden Ramsey notched a pair of singles to lead Arcadia (1-4).
