UF Roundup: Lacrosse team inching toward .500

Sophomore Sarah Lankton led the charge with five goals as the University of Findlay women’s lacrosse team blasted Alderson-Broaddus 18-5 on Thursday at Donnell Stadium.
The Oilers, who improved to 6-8 on the season, controlled the ball for most of the game and held a 32-8 advantage in shots on goal.
Lankton also notched five ground balls, eight draw controls and two assists in the victory.
Nicole Stines finished with three goals, while Kyra Bradley and Mackenzie Barnwell each recorded two goals for UF.
The Oilers return to action on Saturday at Lake Erie in a contest scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
Roughnecks trio honored
Three University of Findlay wrestlers were named to the NCAA Division II All-Academic team by the National Wrestling Coaches Association.
NCAA 125-pound champion earned his fourth All-Academic award for the Roughnecks. He is a computer science major with a 3.50 grade point average and finished with a career record of 102-47 at UF.
Two-time NCAA runner-up Adam Walters also made the list. The senior 184-pound political science and history major had a 3.17 GPA and finished with a 96-32 career mark. He is also a four-time all-academic selection.
Sophomore 165-pound biology major Bradley Metz also made the list. He finished 30-12 this season and has a 3.73 GPA.
