Prep Baseball Roundup: L-B stays unbeaten

NORTH BALTIMORE — Caleb Russell tossed a no-hitter, striking out 11 and surrendering one walk in seven innings of work, as the Eagles dispatched North Baltimore 5-0 to sweep the Tigers in a nonleague doubleheader on Saturday.
Russell, Josh Ostrander, Jeff Gierke, Parker Lease and Jared Neiling each singled and Mason Rose drove in a run to boost Russell’s performance on the mound and Liberty-Benton (8-0) took advantage of five North Baltimore errors.
Neiling singled and drove in a run in the first game and Lease added a pair of singles in the 2-1 win.
Zach Stewart, Garrett Boyer and Chase Nichols each recorded a single and Sean Watson tallied an RBI for the Tigers (1-9).

HARROD — Pandora-Gilboa outhit Allen East 14-11, but the Mustangs were more successful in getting runners across home plate as they swept a nonconference doubleheader from the Rockets with 6-4 and 7-5 wins on Saturday.
Tanner Stippich singled twice and drove in two runs and Braden Goodwin added a single and an RBI as Allen East used a five-run third inning to take the opening game.
Alex Osborn recorded a pair of singles and an RBI, while Seth Schmenk and Reed Hovest notched a single and an RBI each for Pandora-Gilboa (4-5).
Stippich added two more singles and an RBI in the nightcap, while Colton Basham singled and drove in two runs for the Mustangs (7-1).
Jared Tousley had a single and a double and Schmenk finished with a pair of singles and an RBI.

Ross Adolph had four total hits at the plate, including a double, and picked up the win in the second game. The Black Knights scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth to take an 8-7 and held on to improve to 8-1.
Aaron Reinhart had two hits, including a double, and two RBIs on the day for New Riegel (3-6). Michael Kirian singled twice and drove in two runs for the Blue Jackets in the second game.

In the second game, O-G (8-3) scored a run in the bottom of the seventh to escape with a 6-5 win. Brad Croy doubled and singled and picked up the win, pitching the seventh inning. Drew Schierloh pitched the previous six innings, gave up four runs (three earned) on four hits and struck out four.

HAMLER — Hopewell-Loudon and Patrick Henry’s baseball teams were as evenly matched as it could get on Saturday, as both teams edged out a one-run win in splitting a nonleague doubleheader.
Bryan Scherger had a combined two doubles, three singles and seven RBIs for Hopewell-Loudon (7-5), and Garret Sendelbach ripped four singles and drove two runs in the Chieftains’ win.
Brad Breece hit four total singles for Patrick Henry (8-3), which scored all 12 of its runs in the second game in the fourth and fifth innings. Kollin Spence picked up the win on the mound, doubled twice at the plate and drove in two runs.
