Liberty-Benton senior Rachel Myers was named the Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Association’s Division III Girls Player of the Year.
Myers, a Bowling Green State University signee, averaged 23.3 points for the Eagles while shooting 46 percent from 3-point range.
The 5-foot-8 senior guard, who was tabbed a first-team Associated Press All-Ohio selection and was the BVC and District 8 player of the year this season, led Liberty-Benton to a 22-3 overall record which included a Blanchard Valley Conference title and a spot in the regional tournament.
Myers broke the school record for career 3-pointers and finished with more than 1,600 career points.
A handful of other Northwest Ohio players and coaches were honored.
Convoy Crestview’s Jeremy Best was named the Division IV boys coach of the year while Archbold’s Brian Ziegler was selected as the Division III girls coach of the year.
Ottawa Hills’ Geoff Beans was the Division IV boys player of the year while Clyde’s Amanda Cahill was the Division II girls player of the year.
Swanton’s Gary Langenderfer was picked as the girls assistant coach of the year.
