Prep baseball: Abbott no-hits Leipsic

McCOMB — McComb’s Malachi Abbott pitched a no-hitter on Monday and the Panthers scored all their runs with two big rallies in run-ruling Leipsic 11-0 in Blanchard Valley Conference baseball action.
Abbott, a freshman, improved to 4-0 on the season. McComb is also 4-0 in BVC play heading into Wednesday’s game at Liberty-Benton (9-0, 3-0) with the outright league lead on the line.
Travis Clark, Taylor Reardon and Caden Schroeder provided Abbott with plenty of offensive support.
Clark drove in five runs with a two-run single and bases-clearing double. Reardon belted a three-run home run and Schroeder had three singles.
McComb,10-1 overall, batted around in scoring seven runs in the second inning. A four-run rally in the bottom of the seventh ended it and dropped Leipsic, 3-9 overall, to 1-1 in BVC play.

VANLUE — Jared Neiling surrendered one earned run on four hits with 12 strikeouts and one walk in six innings to earn the win on the mound as Liberty-Benton stayed unbeaten with a 6-1 victory against Vanlue in a Blanchard Valley Conference contest on Monday.
Neiling, Alex Harter and Josh Ostrander each singled and drove in a run, while Caleb Russell and Anthony Webb knocked a pair of singles a piece for the Eagles (9-0, 3-0 BVC).
Nick Hagerty hit a single and a double and Sam Wagner singled and drove in a run for Vanlue (1-6, 0-4).

ARLINGTON — John Solt led off the bottom of the seventh inning with a double, and Tyler Richards’ single drove him in Monday as Arlington defeated Van Buren 4-3 in a Blanchard Valley Conference baseball game.
Richards got the win for the Red Devils (7-3, 3-1 BVC). Nick Affholder singled, homered and drove in three runs.
Chance Sonnenberg had a single and an RBI for Van Buren (8-2, 2-1 BVC).

RAWSON — Matthew Alspach finally broke through crossing home plat on a wild pitch as Cory-Rawson nipped Hardin Northern 2-1 in an 11-inning Blanchard Valley Conference baseball game on Monday.
Alspach had a double and two singles and Lance Butler doubled and singled to lead the Hornets (1-6 overall, 1-1 BVC) at the plate.
Logan Cawley went four innings striking out six to get the win.

ARCADIA — Pandora-Gilboa trailed 5-0 heading into the final frame but rallied to score six runs and stun Arcadia 6-5 on Monday in Blanchard Valley Conference baseball action.
Alex Osborn was the winning pitcher and also doubled and drove in two runs for the Rockets.
Jared Tousley also doubled and had an RBI.
Chad Baker and Myles Monday each singled and drove in a run as the Redskins outhit the Rockets 9-5. Baker also took the loss.
