Prep baseball: Unbeaten L-B rolls to win over Arcadia

Liberty-Benton scored five runs in the first inning and followed that will 11 in the third frame in a 16-3 five-inning thumping of Arcadia in Blanchard Valley Conference play on Tuesday.
Mason Rose singled twice, doubled and drove in four runs, Caleb Russell added a pair of doubles, a single and three RBIs, Tyler George notched a pair of singles and three RBIs and Parker Lease singled twice and drove in a run for the Eagles (10-0, 4-0 BVC).
Hayden Ramsey and Myles Monday each contributed a single and an RBI for Arcadia (1-7, 0-4).

MILLER CITY — Jared Fuka tripled twice, singled and drove in four runs as Miller City nipped Pandora-Gilboa 10-8 to stay unbeaten in Putnam County League play.
Jeremy Balbaugh singled twice and added a double, Hunter Berner notched a single and a double and Ross Lehman allowed three earned on six hits and struck out 10 in 51/3 innings to improve to 4-1 on the mound for the Wildcats (8-2, 4-0 PCL).
Reed Hovest singled and doubled, Alex Osborn hit a pair of singles, while Shane Wilson and Seth Schmenk each tallied a double for the Rockets (5-6, 1-2).

UPPER SANDUSKY — Wynford gave starting pitcher Logan Leitzy a two-run cushion in the eighth inning and Leitzy made it stand up as the Royals edged Upper Sandusky 8-6 and knocked the Rams out of a first-place tie in the North Central Conference.
Brock Williamson (2-1B), Mason Davis (2B, 1B) and Alex Crall (1B, 2B) had two hits for Wynford (6-4, 4-1 NCC). Leitzy pitched all eight innings, with three of Upper Sandusky’s six runs being earned.
Upper Sandusky tied the game with two-run rallies in the third and fifth innings, but could not match Wynford’s two-run rally in the eighth. Alex Kenner tripled in a run and Sam Plott (2-1B), Carson Mittermaier (2-1B, RBI) and Dermot Garza (2-1B) had two hits each.
Upper Sandusky entered the game tied with Galion atop the NCC standings, but fell to 7-4 overall and 4-1 in the league.

FORT JENNINGS — Ryan Rau pitched a complete game, allowing one earned run and striking out six, as Fort Jennings defeated Columbus Grove 9-4 in a Putnam County League baseball game.
Mark Metzger singled, doubled and had two RBIs for the Musketeers (3-10, 2-3 PCL). Sam Vetter had a pair of singles and two RBIs.
Joshua Verhoff and Reid Stechschulte had two hits each for Columbus Grove (6-7, 2-2 PCL).

OTTOVILLE — It took an extra inning to do it, but Leipsic defeated Ottoville 5-4 Tuesday in eight innings in a Putnam County League baseball game.
Gavin Cupp had a double, two singes and an RBI for the Vikings (4-9, 2-2 PCL). Logan Selhorst singled twice and drove in a run.
Brendon Schnipke and Brandon Boecker had two hits each for Ottoville (3-7, 0-4 PCL).

Austin Mansfield allowed three earned runs on seven hits in seven innings to pick up the win on the mound, and added three singles, a double and two RBIs at the plate for the Pirates (1-7).
Treston Gonzales tripled and singled to pace Paulding (5-2).

Tyler Richards hit a solo home run, Jordan Freed singled twice, doubled, scored twice and drove in a run and Tyler Starr had an RBI single for the Red Devils (8-3).
Jake Dryfuse smacked a solo homer, Michael Kirian added a pair of singles and Aaron Reinhart doubled for New Riegel (3-7).

OLD FORT — Sean Watson’s RBI triple tied the game at 1-1 in the seventh inning and North Baltimore erupted for six runs in the eighth to defeat Old Fort 7-2 in a Midland Athletic League contest on Tuesday.
Watson also earned the victory on the mound by allowing two earned runs on four hits in eight innings.
Noah Brian notched an RBI single and Levi Newcomer doubled for the Tigers (2-9, 1-1 MAL).
Brandon Tuttle struck out nine in 72/3 innings for the Stockaders (1-9, 0-2).

GLANDORF — Austin Williams tied the game with an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning and Matt Warnecke won with an RBI single in the seventh as Ottawa-Glandorf edged Lima Shawnee 2-1 to remain unbeaten in Western Buckeye League baseball play.
Ben Dietering singled leading off the last of the seventh. Austin Verhoff went in to pinch run and came around on Warnecke’s clutch hit as O-G, 9-3 overall, improved to 4-0 in the league. The Titans are scheduled to host Defiance, the only other team still unbeaten in WBL play, on Friday.
Brad Croy went the distance to get the win, his third in three decisions. Croy limited Shawnee (7-7, 1-3 WBL) to six hits, three of them by Trevor Anderson.
