College Sports: Brown medals twice at Drake Relays

DES MOINES, Iowa — After helping break a 25-year-old Eastern Michigan record in the 400 relay on Friday, Findlay High graduate Tyler Brown did one better on Saturday at the Drake Relays as the freshman anchored the Eagles’ relay team to a sixth place finish and the first sub-40 second race in school history.
Brown, Cameron Bolton, Jeff Elam and Chris Scott posted a then-school-record time of 40.04 seconds on Friday and followed that up on Saturday by setting a new mark with a 39.98.
Brown also teamed up with Elam, Bolton and Mason Waynes to take seventh in the 1,600 relay with a time of 3:07.97.

St.-Jean in four at MAC tourney
FISHERS, Ind. — Stephanie St.-Jean, a junior for the University of Toledo’s women’s golf team and a Findlay High School graduate, is tied for fifth place after shooting a second-round 77 in the Mid-American Conference Women’s Golf Championship at the Hawthorns Golf and Country Club on Saturday.
St. Jean dropped from a tie for first place after her opening-round 72, but her two-day total of 149 is just four shots behind Eastern Michigan University’s Karyn Lee Ping (145). Ball State’s Jenna Hague (146), Ohio’s Hailey Hyrnewich (147) and Kent State’s Jennifer Ha (148) are in second, third and fourth place, respectively.
Kent State leads the team standings with a 595 (+19). Toledo remained in second place after shooting a 305 and tallying a two-day score of 607 (+31), 12 shots back.
