Prep baseball: Fostoria wins Lucadello Tourney

FOSTORIA — Fostoria pounded out 16 hits, including two singles and a double from Lance Smith and the sophomore picked up the victory on the mound as the Redmen defeated North Baltimore 12-7 in the championship game of the Tony Lucadello Memorial Tournament at Lucadello Field on Saturday.
The teams were knotted at 4-4 before Fostoria plated eight runs in the bottom of the fourth to break the game open. North Baltimore ran across one run in the fifth and two more in the seventh, but were unable to overcome the deficit.
Hunter Abell homered, doubled and singled, Robby Crotty added three singles, while Kaleb Bemis and Chris Hampton each notched a pair of singles for the Redmen (10-4).
Sean Watson singled twice to lead the Tigers (4-11).
Fostoria advanced with a 14-3 win over Old Fort in the semifinals. North Baltimore topped St. Wendelin in the other semifinal 10-0.
The Stockaders won the consolation game against the Mohawks 10-5.
