HAMLER — Patrick Henry put together three-run innings in the third and fourth frames of the opening contest and used a solid pitching performance by junior Kyler Seemann in the second game to earn 6-3 and 4-2 wins against Kalida in a nonconference doubleheader on Saturday.
Joe Nickels singled and drove in two runs and Seemann singled and added an RBI for the Patriots, who were outhit 7-5 and committed four errors in the opener.
Noah Lambert notched three singles and an RBI and Austin Swift tallied two singles for Kalida (4-11).
In the night cap, Seemann gave up three hits and no earned runs, while striking out six and walking two to improve to 2-1 on the season.
Nickels doubled, singled and recorded an RBI to lead Patrick Henry (12-4).

AYERSVILLE — Continental’s Austin Mansfield threw a complete-game no hitter, allowing an unearned run while striking out seven and walking five Montpelier batters as the Pirates won 3-1 in a nonconference baseball game at the Ayersville Pilot Invitational on Saturday.
Tyler Rue got the lone hit of the day, a single, for Continental, which improved to 2-8.
Hunter McKelvey pitched a complete game as well for Montpelier (3-11). He allowed an unearned run while striking out 10 batters and walking three.

TIFFIN — Tiffin Columbian’s Jack Burkes dominated on the mound in the first game against Van Buren, and the Tornadoes’ bats took over in the second game to sweep a doubleheader in nonleague baseball action on Saturday.
Burkes allowed six hits in seven innings pitched while striking out four batters and walking two. Mason Mullennex doubled and ripped an RBI-single in the second inning to give the Tornadoes a 1-0 lead.
Nate Hoyda hit an inside-the-park home run for Tiffin Columbian in the second game, and added a single. Matthew Kiser, Burkes and Jeffrey Crawford each had two hits in the game as well as the Tornadoes collected 14 hits.
Schuyler Turner picked up the loss, allowing two earned runs on six hits in six innings for Van Buren (9-4). Isaac Sexton had three singles on the day, while Chance Sonnenberg and Ross Adolph each had two hits.

Jared Neiling picked up the win in the first game, allowing two earned runs on seven hits in seven innings pitched. He also struck out 10 batters as the Eagles overcame a 2-0 deficit after the first inning.
Josh Ostrander doubled, singled and drove in a run for Liberty-Benton (14-0) in the first game.

COLUMBUS GROVE — New Riegel gutted out a 2-1 victory in the opener on the arm of Austin Mathias and used the bats in the nightcap to post a 15-1 win to sweep Columbus Grove in a nonleague doubleheader on Saturday.
Mathias (2-2) gave up no earned runs on four hits, while striking out two and walking two in seven innings. Jake Dryfuse singled twice and Michael Kirian doubled for the Blue Jackets (6-7).
Riley Brubaker doubled and singled, while Reid Stechschulte singled twice for Columbus Grove.
Dryfuse singled four times and drove in a run in the second game, Aaron Acree added two singles and three RBIs and Mathias notched a single and two RBIs.
The Bulldogs (8-9) tallied three hits, including a double each from Josh Verhoff and Mason Smith.

The Raiders won the first game 13-0 five innings and claimed the nightcap 6-5.
The Raiders pushed across a run in the bottom of the seventh to win the second game after jumping out to a 6-0 lead in the first inning of the opener.
Madison Jaso had two doubles and two singles on the day, while Jordan Jason had two doubles and a single. Josh Mason and Dakota Gilbert each had four singles, with Mason driving in a run. Jacob Aaron doubled, singled and knocked in a run and K.J. Berkley hit two singles and a double and drove in a run.
