LEXINGTON — Max MacDonald placed fifth at No. 2 singles and Findlay High’s tennis team had three sixth-place finishes at the Lexington Invitational on Saturday.
MacDonald followed a first-round 6-0, 7-5 loss to Lexington’s Matt Youse with wins over James Sophia of Shaker Heights (8-5) and Louis Filipiak of Toledo St. Francis (8-3).
Reid Teatsorth fell to Massillon Jackson state qualifier Joey Thomas 6-2, 6-2 in the first round and ended up sixth. Findlay High’s doubles teams of Ian Laird and Brent Gorman (No. 1) and Hyunchul Lee and Logan Sullivan (No. 2) also finished sixth. Jake Elbin was seventh at No. 3 singles.
Walsh Jesuit came out on top in an elite field, scoring 37 points to edge Kenston and Massillon Jackson by one point and Lexington by two for the team title. Dublin Coffman was fifth (29) and Findlay sixth (20). Shaker Heights and St. Francis (16) tied for seventh.
