Prep baseball: O-G stays in WBL baseball race

VAN WERT — Brad Croy allowed four runs, three of them earned, in six innings pitched and Drew Schierloh hit a triple and two singles to lead Ottawa-Glandorf past Van Wert 9-4 in a Western Buckeye League baseball game on Thursday.
Ottawa-Glandorf (11-4 overall, 6-1 WBL), Wapakoneta, St. Marys Memorial and Defiance each had just one league loss heading into tonigh’s action.
Austin Williams and Matt Warnecke each doubled and singled for the Titans, which scored five runs in the top of the third inning to take a 6-1 lead.
Justice Tussing and Jacob Braun each hit two singles for Van Wert (7-9, 2-5 WBL).

BLUFFTON — Jacob Judy’s two-run home run in the top of the seventh inning proved to be the difference as Lima Central Catholic nipped Bluffton 4-2 in nonleague action.
Judy also added a single for the T-Birds (7-12).
Trent Phillips and Chris McClain each contributed a single and an RBI for Bluffton (9-6).

COLUMBUS GROVE — Ross Thompson smacked a three-run home run, added three singles and finished with six RBIs as Delphos Jefferson bounced Columbus Grove 12-5 in Northwest Conference play.
Jace Stockwell singled twice and drove in a run, Josh Teman tallied a double, a single and an RBI and Austin Jettinghoff recorded an RBI double for Jefferson (12-6 overall, 3-2 Northwest Conference).
Josh Verhoff tripled, singled and drove in three runs, Riley Brubaker had a double and a single and Tanner Neu notched a pair of singles for the Bulldogs (9-10, 2-4).

Damian Helm tripled and singled to lead the Knights (10-3 overall, 4-1 NWC), who took advantage of six Ada errors.
Brayden Sautter hit a home run, tripled and recorded two RBIs for Ada (2-12, 0-5).

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale’s Grant Loveridge drove in two runs with a single Thursday but Galion’s bats were too much for the Falcons as the Tigers won a 14-3 North Central Conference game.
Paul Frey doubled and had an RBI for Riverdale (4-10 overall, 2-5 NCC).
Josh Keller had three hits and drove in three runs for Galion (14-3, 7-1).

NEW WASHINGTON — Upper Sandusky overcame a 2-0 deficit after three innings and scored a run in the top of the seventh to escape with a 3-2 win over Buckeye Central in a North Central Conference game.
Alex Kenner allowed an unearned run on three hits in five innings pitched to get the win for the Rams (10-7, 6-4 NCC). Sam Plott doubled, singled and drove in a run, and Cody Gabriel doubled and had an RBI as well for Upper Sandusky.

FOSTORIA — Fostoria rallied from a three-run deficit Thursday to claim a 7-6 victory over Fremont Ross in nonleague play at Grant Jackson Field.
The Little Giants went ahead 6-3 with a five-run third inning, but the Redmen came back with two runs in both the fourth and fifth innings and raised their record to 11-5.
Kaleb Bemis hit three singles for FHS, while Lance Smith added a pair of singles and Chris Hampton singled.
Trey Yates earned the win on the mound for FHS, while Andy Mapus took the loss for Fremont Ross.
Michael Hufford had a pair of singles for the Little Giants while Nick Michael tallied a double and a single and Jalen Slick recorded a single.

HAMLER — Kollin Spence allowed one unearned run on eight hits, while striking out six and walking one batter and Patrick Henry scored all of its runs in the fifth inning to drop Bryan 3-1 in a Northwest Ohio Athletic League contest on Thursday.
Spence added an RBI single and Jake Montana recorded a pair of singles for the Patriots, who improved to 13-6 overall and 6-1 in NWOAL play.
Austin Martin singled twice and drove in a run and Nate Rau hit three singles to pace Bryan (11-5, 5-2).

Continental’s Terry Dockery III and Tyler Rue each singled twiceas the Pirates fell to 2-9, 0-5 PCL.
