Prep softball: Black Knights sweep pair from Grove

COLUMBUS GROVE — Van Buren had four players with at least four hits and three RBIs on the day as the Black Knights crushed Columbus Grove 14-1 in five innings in both games of a nonconference softball doubleheader on Saturday.
Olivia Sattler (three doubles, single, five RBIs), Erin Neall (double, three singles, four RBIs), Nichole Miller (four singles, four RBIs) and Paige Sudlow (double, three singles, three RBIs) each had big days at the plate for Van Buren (9-10).
Micah Stechschulte had a double and an RBI in the first game for Columbus Grove (9-6), which had five total hits on the day.

LIMA — Mohawk’s Clara Adelsperger had a pair of doubles but it wasn’t enough as the Warriors were swept in a nonconference doubleheader at Lima Bath on Saturday.
The Wildcats won the opener 6-1 while scoring a 5-4 win in eight innings in the nightcap.
Kimmy Reynolds pitched Lima Bath to the win in both games. Brooke Weinandy and McKenzie Sowers both doubled for Mohawk while Taylor McClain blasted a solo home run.

McCOMB — Taylir Schiewe and Bethany Fisher each singled and drove in two runs, while Addy Bame allowed an earned run on four hits in seven innings pitched, and Hardin Northern took care of McComb 6-1 in Blanchard Valley Conference softball action Saturday.
Bame struck out 13 batters and walked two for Hardin Northern (7-5, 5-1 BVC), which scored three runs in the fifth inning to increase its lead to 5-1
Hardin Northern hosts Arlington (7-0 BVC) today.
Alexis Miller hit an RBI-single for McComb (3-15, 1-6 BVC), and Brenna Dee ripped two triples.

KANSAS — Skylar Conley, Lizzie Coward and Ashley and Alisha Baird all knocked in three runs for Arcadia as the Redskins split a nonconference softball doubleheader with Lakota.
Lakota took the opener 9-6 as Alisha Baird crushed a pair of homers and drove in three runs in a losing effort for the Redskins.
Arcadia (10-6) had more than enough offense in the second game for a 17-6 win over the Raiders.
Alisha Baird had another homer and a single, Conley had two singles driving in three runs, Coward had three singles with three RBIs, Ashley Baird tripled with two singles and Courtney Cramer added a home run for the Redskins in the nightcap.

TIFFIN — Ali Rymer picked up two complete-game wins for Carey and Dani Berardinelli-Clark belted a home run, a double and drove in three runs on the day as the Blue Devils swept a doubleheader against Tiffin Columbian on Saturday.
Rymer allowed six total runs (three earned) on 17 hits to win both games. Makenzie Wentling and Hannah Draper each ripped four singles for Carey (8-6), which had 23 total hits.
Sam Gaietto homered, singled and drove in a run in the first game for Tiffin Columbian, and Sierra Shope hit three singles in the second game.

MILLER CITY — Liz Schimmoeller picked up the win in both games and singled home Alissa Schnipke with the game-winning run in the night cap of a doubleheader sweep of Spencerville on Saturday.
Schimmoeller also homered, doubled and added a pair of singles as Miller City improved to 7-5 with a 2-1 win in the first game and 7-6 victory over the Bearcats in the second game.
Jessica Vennekotter added three singles and a double for the Wildcats as well.

DEFIANCE — Bree Snapp’s home run and Libby Crow’s three-run double highlighted a five-run rally in the top of the seventh inning that earned Findlay High’s softball team a 5-4 win over Defiance and a split of the nonleague softball doubleheader on Saturday.
Snapp also doubled and earned the win inside the circle in the second game. The junior pitcher/infielder also had a pair of doubles in the opener, which Defiance (11-8) won 6-3 with a three-run sixth-inning rally.
Findlay (4-18) has a full slate of Three Rivers Athletic Conference games on tap this week. The Trojans are scheduled to host Lima Senior today, play a home-and-home series with Toledo Central Catholic on Tuesday (home) and Wednesday (away), host Toledo St. Ursula on Thursday and visit Fremont Ross on Friday.
