CELINA — Findlay High School’s Max MacDonald won eight of the last nine games to earn a pivotal win at No. 2 singles, give the Trojans a sweep of the individual matches, and lock down a 3-2 tennis victory over Celina.
MacDonald dropped the first set, but rallied for a 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 decision over Celina’s Alex Seibel. Reid Teatsorth had beaten Celina’s Aaron Seibel 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles and Jake Elbin dispatched Nathan Lutz 6-0, 6-3 at No. 3.
The singles sweep gave Findlay, 13-3 on the season, the edge the Trojans needed to hand Celina (15-1) its first loss.
Celina’s Isaac Elston and Kris LeJeune beat Findlay’s Ian Laird and Brent Gorman 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles. Hagan Kriegel and Joel Weitz took the No. 2 doubles match, but lost their first set of the season in rallying for a 6-1, 2-6, 6-4 decision over Hyunchul Lee and Logan Sullivan.
Findlay will be at Sylvania Southview on Friday for the second round of the Ohio High School Tennis Coaches Association team tournament.

Softball falls to TCC
Alyssa Axe homered and singled twice as Toledo Central Catholic rolled past Findlay 8-3 in a Three Rivers Athletic Conference contest on Tuesday.
The Irish (5-11, 4-6 TRAC) scored five runs in the second inning and opened up a 6-2 lead after the third frame.
Shelby Roether doubled, singled and drove in a run for the Trojans (5-17, 3-6).
