Prep baseball: Findlay High routs Fremont

FREMONT — Nolan Rodman started Friday’s game with Fremont Ross with a leisurely stroll around the bases.
His second time up, he was a bit more aggressive.
Rodman scored Findlay’s first run when Fremont starter Michael Hufford walked the first four batters he faced. Rodman came up a second time in the first inning and smashed a grand slam, highlighting a 12-run barrage that propelled the Trojans to a 15-4 Three Rivers Athletic Conference win.
Ryan Golden added a two-run home run and Wes Breitigam a two-run single in the first inning. Connor Curlis had three hits in the game and Payton Evans had two as Findlay (12-9, 7-2 TRAC) gave sophomore starter Chandler Stillings plenty of offensive support.
Jalen Slick (1B, 3B) had two hits for Ross (8-14, 2-6 TRAC).

CAREY — Vanlue’s Jacob Coldren pitched a two-hit shutout and Sam Wagner drove in four runs as the Wildcats run-ruled Carey 10-0 in a nonleague baseball game between the backyard rivals.
Wagner got Vanlue on the board with a bases-clearing 3-run double in the third inning. He added a sacrifice fly in the fifth, while Nick Hagerty (2B, 1B), Coldren (2-1B), Jason Summers (3B) and Tyler Wingate drove in runs as well.
Coldren set down every Carey batter but Steve Yontz, who doubled and singled for the Blue Devils only hits.

NAPOLEON — Tanner Schimmoeller belted a home run and drove in three runs and Ottawa-Glandorf exploded for 18 runs on 16 hits to demolish Napoleon 18-1 in five innings in a nonconference game.
Brad Croy (three doubles, three RBIs), Tyler Zender (three singles, three RBIs) and Andrew Wischmeyer (double, two singles) each had three hits for the Titans (16-4), who scored eight runs in the fifth inning.

PANDORA — Pandora-Gilboa used 3-run rallies in three consecutive innings to overcome a 5-2 deficit and post an 11-6 nonleague win over Ada.
Brian Schneck (2-1B, 3B) and T.J. Koepplinger (2-1B, 2B) drove in two runs each. Jacob Basinger tripled and plated three runs for the Rockets (10-10), who tied the game with a 3-run rally in the third inning and surged ahead with 3-run rallies in the fourth and fifth.
Brayden Sautter (1B, 2B) drove in three runs and Connor English had a pair of RBI singles for Ada (13-11).

BUCYRUS — Wynford capitalized on seven Riverdale errors and scored in every inning except the fourth to grab an 11-5 victory and clinch at least a share of the North Central Conference title.
Alex Crall recorded a double, a single and two RBIs, Jake Glowaski added a pair of singles and two RBIs and Austin Shutler tripled, singled and drove in a run for the Royals (13-7, 11-2 NCC).
Grant Loveridge and Luke Bowman each tallied two singles and an RBI, while Tristan Davis doubled and drove in a run for the Falcons (4-15, 2-10).

GALION — Alex Kenner finished with a double, two singles and three RBIs as Upper Sandusky outslugged North Central Conference-leading Galion 13-12 on Friday.
Cody Gabriel doubled, singled and drove in two runs, Andre Myers hit a double, a single and drove in a run and Tylor Pritchard notched singled twice and had an RBI for the Rams (14-7, 9-4 NCC).
Eric Powell homered, singled and drove in a pair of runs, Chad Karnes added two singles and two RBIs and Bryton Carpenter finished with a single and four RBIs for the Tigers (18-5, 10-3).

MILLBURY — The four hits and two runs Fostoria had against Lake on Friday may not look like much.
But those are the kind of numbers this year’s players might one day be telling their kids about.
Fsotoria got those four hits and two runs off of Lake ace Jayce Vancena, a 6-foot-5, 220-pound right-hander who has signed a national letter of intent to play baseball, if he’s not drafted by a major league team first. It is believed to be the most hits and runs Vancena has allowed in any one game this year.
Donovan Vogel had two of those base hits for Fostoria (13-9, 3-6 NBC). Vancena helped his on causwe with a pair of hits for Lake, 19-2 and 9-0 in the league.

Jeremy Balbaugh doubled, singled twice and drove in three runs, Jackson Lammers tallied a double and two RBIs, Logan Dukes added a single and two RBIs and Jared Fuka recorded a double and two singles for Miller City (14-5, 7-0 PCL).
Jeffrey Knueve had a double, a single and three RBIs, Brent Hovest hit a single and drove in a pair of runs and Blaine Warnimont tripled, singled and had an RBI for Kalida (7-13, 4-3).

NEW RIEGEL — Michael Kirian pitched a two-hit complete-game shutout, striking out 15 Cardinal Stritch batters, and blasted a home run at the plate as New Riegel won 6-0 in nonconference baseball action on Friday.
Aaron Reinhart also hit a home run, a single and drove in three runs for New Riegel (11-8). Austin Mathias added two singles as the Blue Jackets jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first inning.

CONTINENTAL — Fort Jennings answered Continental’s seven-run barrage in the third inning with a game-turning five-run rally in the fifth and held on to post a 9-7 Putnam County League baseball win on Friday.
Connor Wallenhorst had three base hits for Fort Jennings (7-12, 4-3 PCL). Terry Dockery III and Derek Troyer tripled for Continental (3-12, 0-7 PCL).
