Boys tennis: Upper wins four titles at NCC tourney

BUCYRUS — It was a solid day Saturday for Upper Sandusky’s boys tennis team as the Rams claimed four championships and a runner-up at the North Central Conference tournament at Bucyrus High School.
The Rams swept the Nos. 2 and 3 singles spots and both doubles draws. Evan Sheck, at No. 2 singles, defeated Crestline’s Cody Taylor 6-0, 6-0 in the semis before beating Dalon King of Bucyrus 6-2, 6-0 in the final.
At No. 3 singles, Seth Frey downed Crestline’s Jacob Martin 6-0, 6-0 in the semis and defeated Galion’s Caleb Ivy 6-2, 6-0 in the final.
Danial Malsbarger and Aaron Pirc beat Crestline’s Blake Miller and Hunter Music 6-0, 6-0 in the semifinals at No. 1 doubles, and topped Bucyrus’ Greg Patrick and D.J. Dagher 6-1, 6-1 in the final.
At No. 2 doubles, Drew Barth and Noah Frey got a bye into the final, where they beat Galion’s Alex Barker and Nic Oehler 6-1, 6-2.
Upper’s Seth Sprang topped Galion’s Sam Maddox 6-0, 6-0 in the semis at No. 1 singles, and fell 6-4, 6-4 to Mark Musick of Bucyrus in the final.
