Prep softball: St. Wendelin hammers 3 homers

ARCADIA — Meghan Reiter, Edy Mowrey and Cortney Babb each homered as Fostoria St. Wendelin hammered out 15 hits Tuesday in a 15-6 nonconference victory against Arcadia.

Mowrey added three singles and finished with six RBIs, Babb doubled, singled twice and drove in four runs and Reiter also tallied a double and a single for the Mohawks (11-11).

Molly Glick hit a double, three singles and drove in a run, Haley Kieffer notched a double, a single and two RBIs, while Lizzie Coward and Ashley Baird recorded a single and an RBI apiece for Arcadia (13-7).

KANSAS — State-ranked New Riegel got production up and down the lineup in an 18-7 Midland Athletic League win over Lakota.

Morgan Noftz had three singles, a triple and two RBIs for the Blue Jackets (20-4, 7-1 MAL), who are ranked third in latest coaches poll released Monday. Taylor Arbogast doubled and had three RBIs; Kara Scherger tripled twice and drove in four runs; Lauren Zoeller had a pair of RBIs; and Hailey Theis also drove in two runs.

Sam Miller had two RBIs for Lakota (15-7, 6-3 MAL).

MOUNT BLANCHARD — An eight-run first inning put Riverdale in full control and the Falcons went on to beat Colonel Crawford 15-4 in a North Central Conferernce softball game.

Marisa Alva triple and drove in three runs; Taylor Famer had two hits and three RBIs; and Julia Naus had three hits, including a home run, and three RBIs as Riverdale improved to 15-9, 7-6 NCC.

Colonel Crawford fell to 7-15, 3-11.

VAN BUREN — Ada led 3-0 entering the bottom of the fourth inning, but Van Buren scored four unanswered runs down the stretch to earn a 4-3 win in nonleague action Tuesday.

Brylie Rampe doubled and drove in a pair of runs, Paige Sudlow recorded a double and a single and Nichole Miller fanned 10 batters to earn the victory on the mound for the Black Knights (12-12).

Quinn High tallied a single and two RBIs and Ashley Sumner added a double and a single for Ada (12-8).
