Sectional softball: Bame blasts Polar Bears to win over Ada

DUNKIRK — Hardin Northern’s Addy Bame fired a five-hit shutout as the Polar Bears blanked Ada 3-0 in a Division IV sectional final at Dunkirk Park on Thursday.

Bame allowed five hits in seven innings striking out 10 to get the win. She also blasted a pair of home runs and drove in all three runs for the Polar Bears.

Brooklynn Watts, Taylor Schwiewe and Michaela Curtis all doubled for Hardin Northern (11-5), which advances to play top-seeded New Riegel Tuesday in the Division IV district semifinals at Kenton.

Ashley Summer allowed three runs on seven hits with a walk and two strikeouts in the circle for Ada.
She also led the Bulldogs (12-9) with a pair of singles.

HAMLER — Katie Kurtz and Madeline Hogrefe both drove in three runs to key Patrick Henry’s 17-7 Division IV sectional final win over Cory-Rawson.

Patrick Henry (18-3) scored in every inning as the Patriots advance to Tuesday’s 5 p.m. district semifinals against the winner of today’s Continental and Pandora-Gilboa.

Kurtz, who also got the win, had a pair of singles and Hogrefe, Natalie Herder and Kristin Bostelman doubled for the Patriots.

Jordan Hector had a two-run triple and Brittany Roth and Amie Ricksecker both had a pair of singles for the Hornets.

NEW RIEGEL — Taylor Kirian and Elyssa Theis combined to pitch a perfect game Thursday as New Riegel downed Vanlue 22-0 in a Division IV sectional softball championship game at New Riegel.

The Blue Jackets (21-4) advance to play Hardin Northern (11-5) in a district semifinal at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Kenton High School.

Kirian worked the first three innings, striking out four. Theis finished up and struck out one batter.
Kirian singled, doubled and drove in three runs. Lauren Zoeller singled twice and drove in three runs, while Taylor Arbogast, Kara Scherger and Leah Bouillon each had two RBIs.

Vanlue fell to 6-14.

ST. HENRY — It was all St. Henry Thursday as the Redskins racked up a 15-1 five-inning win over Ottoville in a Division IV sectional softball final.

The Redskins advance to play top-seeded Minster at 5 p.m. on Tuesday in the district semifinals.

The Big Green fell to 1-13.
