LEIPSIC — Arlington and Leipsic may have been on opposite ends of the Blanchard Valley Conference softball standings heading into Monday’s matchup. After four innings of play, though, they were dead even at 3-3.
Arlington finally inched ahead with a lone run in the fifth inning, then added two-run rallies in the sixth and seventh to earn an 8-3 win that capped a BVC co-championship for the Red Devils.
Arlington and Arcadia, which topped Hardin Northern by an identical 8-3 score on Monday, both finished league play at 8-1. It is Arlington’s third straight shared or outright BVC softball title, and Arcadia’s first since 2008.
Courtney Stoltz and Laura Myers had two hits each, Britnee Johnson tripled and Dani Heaster doubled for Arlington. Megan Johnson singled in two runs and Erin Helms singled home one.
Alexis Escamilla had two base hits for Leipsic, 4-21 overall and 1-8 in the BVC.
