Prep softball: NB’s Bean throws no-hitter

North Baltimore’s Kelcie Bean pitched a six inning no-hitter, stiking out seven and allowing just two walks, in the Tigers 10-0 nonleague softball win over Liberty-Benton on Monday.
Bean also had two singles and drove in a run for North Baltimore. Makayla Rein also had two hits and Rachel Peters and Makayla Light had two-run singles for the Tigers, who led just 1-0 before breaking loose for five runs in the fourth.
North Baltimore (10-13) will face Van Buren (13-12) on Wednesday in the Division IV district semifinals at Elida. The Tigers edged the Black Knights in extra innings earlier in the season.

OLD FORT — Taylor Kirian won her 21st game of the season in the circle Monday, but outshined pitching with three home runs and seven RBIs as New Riegel downed Old Fort 15-3 in a Midland Athletic League softball game.
Morgan Noftz and Lauren Zoeller also smacked homers for the Blue Jackets (22-4, 8-1 MAL), who are ranked third in the latest Division IV coaches poll released Monday. Elyssa Theis had three singles and a pair of RBIs.
Peyton Miller doubled for Old Fort (11-11, 3-5 MAL).
New Riegel plays Hardin Northern (12-6) in a district semifinal at 5 p.m. today at Kenton High School.

BLUFFTON — Taylor Farmer gave up two earned runs on five hits in the circle, and went 4 for 4 at the plate with a double, three singles and an RBI as Riverdale topped Bluffton 4-2 in a nonleague contest Monday.
Aricka Hill homered and added a single for the Falcons (18-9).
Bluffton (11-6) was led by Abbie Parkins’ triple and single at the plate.

MILLER CITY — Mekenna Ricker drove in two runs and Alissa Schnipke and Janke vanWezel singled in one each during a four-run sixth-inning rally that earned Miller City’s softball team a season-ending 5-4 Putnam County League win over Pandora-Gilboa.
Miller City trailed 4-0 before plating one run in the bottom of the fifth inning and four in the sixth. VanWezel had two hits and Cassie Niese doubled for the Wildcats, who end up 11-7 overall and 5-1 in the PCL.
Vivian Nofziger, Olivia Maag and Kayla Gibson had two hits each for P-G (6-12, 3-3 PCL).
