L-B takes BVC all-sports banner

Liberty-Benton won championships in four sports to claim the Blanchard Valley Conference all-sports banner competition for the third straight year.

The Eagles won league titles in girls basketball, baseball and boys and girls track while finishing second in volleyball, football and boys basketball to top Arlington for first place in the all-sports competition 77-69½.

McComb was third with 55½ points followed by Van Buren (54½), Leipsic (46½), Pandora-Gilboa (44), Arcadia (40), Cory-Rawson (28½). Hardin Northern (19½) and Vanlue (16).

Other BVC champions last year included Van Buren in boys golf, McComb in volleyball, Arlington in boys basketball and softball and Arcadia in softball.

It was the final season for the BVC in its current alignment.

Riverdale, North Baltimore and Hopewell-Loudon will join the conference next fall. Hardin Northern will participate in the fall and winter sports before making the move to the North West Central Conference for the spring sports season.
