FAIRBORN — Kasey Petty posted a 2-up victory over Michele Schambs, a member of the University of Findlay women’s golf team, in the first-flight quarterfinals of the Women’s Ohio State Amateur Championship held at the Gem City Golf Club in Fairborn.
Petty, from Canal Winchester, went on to win the first-flight title, beating Natalie Irwin of Columbus 5-and-4 in the final.
Sarah Kolodzik, a four-time first-team Division II all-Ohio golfer from Bellbrook, dominated the Women’s Amateur.
The University of Virginia signee, who graduated this spring from Miami Valley High School, defeated Fairborn’s Madison Musick 3-and-1 in the final. It was the first match Kolodzik played that wasn’t decided in 14 holes and only the second that lasted more than 12.
