Findlay’s American Legion baseball team came through with game-winning seventh-inning rallies in both ends of Saturday’s nonleague doubleheader with Maumee, using three base hits to win the opener 7-6 and three walks to take the second game 4-3.
Chandler Stillings led off the bottom of the seventh in the first game with a single, Grant Akin followed with another base hit and Garrett Sendelbach lined a game-winning single to left-center.
Stillings, Sendelbach, Ross Adolph and Nolan Rodman all had two hits and drove in a run, and Nick Bowden had a pair of RBI singles. Stillings earned the win in relief.
Maumee outhit Findlay 6-4 in the second game, and again tied the score with a three-run rally in the top of the sixth inning.
Jared Neiling drew a two-out walk in the bottom of the seventh, Rodman singled and Bowden, after getting ahead in the count 2-0, was walked intentionally to load the bases. Chris Hampton then walked on a 3-2 pitch to bring in the winning run. Desmond Lino got the win with an inning of scorelsss relief.
Findlay (16-1) travels today to Bucyrus for a BALL make-up game, and will hit the road this weekend for the Don Coss Tournament in Cambridge. Findlay will play Masssillon and Cambridge on Friday, and St. Clairsville and Parkersburg on Saturday.
Friday and Saturday’s results will determine the pairings for Sunday’s playoff round.
