Special Olympics: Clapper, Thomas each win 2 events at summer games

COLUMBUS — Chris Clapper and Rusty Thomas won two events each to lead Blanchard Valley Center athletes in the 2014 Special Olympics Summer Games held in Columbus.

Clapper and Thomas both placed first in their division of the softball toss. Clapper also won the 50-meter dash and Thomas captured the 100-meter walk.

Blanchard Valley Center also got first-place efforts in the softball toss from Ryan Priest and Brittany Romantic, and in the javelin throw from Michael Brooks and Shyanne Monroe.

BVC’s volleyball team claimed the bronze after going 1-1 in the competition and finishing third.
