Legion baseball: Findlay Legion team sweeps Pemberville

Ross Adolph had four hits and drove in five runs and Findlay’s Post 3 American Legion team got outstanding pitching from Jared Neiling and Chandler Stillings in ending regular-season play with a doubleheader sweep of Pemberville on Saturday.

Neiling improved his record to 6-0 by allowing just three hits, striking out nine and walking just one in the opener. Adolp drove in three runs with a double and a single and Stillings, Nolan Rodman and Isaac Sexton added two hits each in Post 3’s 7-0 win.

Stillings pitched six shutout innings and upped his record to 6-1 as Findlay took the second game 7-3. Adolph doubled, tripled and drove in two runs, with Neiling and Rodman collecting two hits each. Grant Akin had three singles in the win, and Sexton had a two-run double.

Findlay improved to 24-5 and will take a four-game winning streak into District 1 tournament play this week. Post 3 will host Whitehouse Wednesday at 7 p.m. in one of four first-round tournament games.
