Sam Griffith earned his third tournament title of the season and wrapped up Male Player of the Year honors as well in winning the boys 16-18 age division of the 2014 Findlay Area Golf Association Championship at the Findlay Country Club on Wednesday.
Griffith carded a 4-over 76 in the final event of the season, winning his division by a 4-stroke margin over Adam August (80). Britton Jackson was third (86) in the boys 16-18 competition.
Nick Streacker, who had three wins, two seconds and a third-place finish during the season, was voted the boys 16-18 outstanding player.
Hunter Foltz won his fourth tournament title of the season and was voted the outstanding golfer in the boys 14-15 division after a down-to-the-wire finish on Monday. Foltz won Monday’s championship in a one-hole playoff with Matt Munoz after both carded 81s. Brandon Wehrle was a close third with an 82.
Jordan Whitman won the girls 14-18 tournament and Outstanding Player of the Year honors in her division as well after posting a 93 on Monday. Kiera Robinson was second with a 98, and Ashley Franklin (114) won a playoff with Jackie Fontana for third.
Suzanne Short, a three-time winner during the season but unable to compete in Monday’s championships, was FAGA’s Female Player of the Year.
Noah Frederick (boys 12-13), Andrew Kuenzli (boys 10-11) and Chloe Holliday (girls 10-13) won age group titles on Monday and were their division’s outstanding golfers as well.
Frederick finished first in eight tournaments during the season, including the FAGA match play competiton. He fired an 82 Monday to come away with a 5-stroke victyory over Quentin Weddell (87). Michael Kotey was third (94).
Kuenzli won the boys 10-11 division with a 49 over nine holes. Owen Coffey (57) edged Mason Rinehart (59) for second.
Holliday finished first in the girls 10-13 division with a 57. Kiana Robinson was second (66) and Aby Kettels third (78).
Sportsman of the Year honors went to August and Kiera Robinson.
