LIMA — Findlay High School’s Camryn Hessing rallied after dropping the first set to defeat Lima Shawnee’s Monica Glick 4-6, 6-4, 6-0 at No. 3 singles on Thursday, but it wasn’t enough as the Indians bested the Trojans 3-2 in the girls tennis season opener for both schools.
Findlay’s senior duo of Emma Miller and Erin Bosse topped Jasmine Binop and Alexis Wei 7-5, 3-6, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles, and it looked as if the Trojans might rally for the victory after losing the top two singles matches when Jenna Burger and Rachelle Crow won the first set at No. 2 doubles.
However, Shawnee’s Sydney Brookshire and Rashika Avari settled in for a three-set victory 6-4, 0-6, 3-6 to seal the win.
Anita Kottapalli notched a 3-6, 5-7 victory against Findlay’s Corinne Hoffman at No. 1 singles and Savannah Hosey fell 4-6, 4-6 to Shawnee’s Nkiru Anigbogu at No. 2 singles.
