Prep girls golf: Trojans seventh at Ashland

ASHLAND — Three Findlay High girls golfers broke 90 on Monday when the Trojans finished seventh among 19 teams in the 16th annual George J. Valentine Memorial/Ashland Invitational held at the Brookside Golf Club in Ashland.
Sophomore Jordan Whitman fired an 85 to lead Findlay. Karina Bruce carded an 88 and Suzanne Short an 89. A 96 by Emma Harris completed Findlay’s 358 total. Kaelyn Kouns added a score of 100 and Olivia Williams had a 102.
Led by a 70 from tournament medalist Christine Cooper, Canfield won the tournament with a 304 team total. Dover (325) was a distant second.
Findlay’s girls golf team will be at the Fremont Country Club to take part in the second Three Rivers Athletic Conference tournament of the regular season.
