Former University of Findlay basketball standout Greg Kahlig has signed a contract to play professionally in Spain, the university announced on Monday.
Kahlig was named the 2013-14 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year after averaging 24.5 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists a game and leading UF to a 24-6 record, a GLIAC tournament championship and a berth in the NCAA Division II regionals.
The 6-foot-6 wing out of Fort Loramie High School, who scored a GLIAC record 55 points in a win over Walsh, scored 736 points his senior season, the third highest single-season total in UF history.
His 1,877 career points are the fourth highest total in the Oilers’ record books.
Kahlig has been signed by Forca Lleida CE, which is based in Lleida, Spain.
The club is one of 18 teams currently competing in the top division of the Spanish basketball league system.
